Initial Orientation Courses The initial orientation courses (EOKs) are primarily aimed at asylum seekers who do not come from a country with good prospects of remaining or from a safe country of origin. If places are also available, asylum seekers with good prospects of remaining may also attend an initial orientation course, provided that participation in an integration course is not (yet) possible. The EOKs cover topics such as everyday life in Germany, work, shopping, health/medical care, kindergarten/school and housing at a very basic language level. A course consists of six modules of 50 teaching units each and thus comprises a total of 300 teaching units. Integration Courses The vhs Ehingen offers German courses, which are state-supported and on behalf of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees and are carried out by vhs Ehingen. Requirements – little or no knowledge of German – Latin alphabetized or second language learner – willingness to participate regularly and over a longer period of time participate in the course Target groups – EU foreigners – ethnic German immigrants and Germans with insufficient German language skills – migrants from non-EU countries Advantages The participants learn German. Contents and scope The language course (600 teaching units in 6 modules) covers important topics from everyday life, for example such as work and career, education and training, care and education of children.
